Park Forest South Aviation Group

We operate a variety of FAA-certified sailplanes.

PFSAG operates a Cessna 150 single-engine airplane for towing sailplanes into the air. The airplane is equipped with a short takeoff and landing (STOL) kit for improved performance on shortened runways.

PFSAG operates one Schweizer 2-33A sailplane which is a metal/Ceconite fabric two-place trainer sailplane. The 2-33A is a solid, proven sailplane used for primary flight instruction.

For those who are members of the Civil Air Patrol, one additional Schweizer 2-33A sailplane is available.

L/D max. 23:1 @ 72 kph / 39 kt / 45 mph
Min. sink 0.85 m/s / 2.8 fps / 1.66 kt @ 64 kph / 35 kt / 40 mph

In still air, the Schweizer 2-33A sailplane can glide for 23 miles from 5280 feet up, or take 31 minutes to descend from that altitude before landing.
